First post
by EastCoastMindFree ini have been on this site lurking for over 2 years and this is my first post, i feel so bottled with emotion that i have to let it out somehow so i do not have an emotional breakdown!
i was raised in the organization and am married with 2 children ages 4 and 2. my wife and i have been inactive for about 2 years and i have always had hard questions that were never answered growing up, such as blood policy and how david and his men were allowed to eat from the bread reserved for the high priests without death penalty since it was life or death.
carbon dating on human remains/tools that date back 30-40k years, far surpassing the 6k year man creation date, the double standards and very real "human" aspect on the organization and its decisions and history.

Welcome to forum, glad to have you here with us. Yes, just vent here, most were in the Borg for years and will be happy to support you and we truly do understand what you are going thru.
Hubby [Brother of the Hawk] & I were both JW's for 43+ years, raised in it, so believe me we understand! We even survived the 1975 fiasco! Our daughter Shyla [Gojira_101] is on here also, she was a born-in and in it for 29 years.
Peace be with you on your journey.

When "The Persecution" Comes - What a Let Down that turned out to be!
by cofty inwhen i was young there was endless speculation about "the persecution".
i have very clear memories as a child sitting in the old kingdom hall in coatbridge hearing it talked about from the platform.
it was a frequent topic at home.. sometimes there was lurid detail about what sort of torture "they" might use against us to make us betray others.

Good post & topic!
I remember those talks also. Who would have thought back then, that our 'Test' of faith and loyalty would have come from that very organization itself. We came to the point that it boiled down to loyalty to God & Christ or a man-made organization that claims to be God's organization but is really a bunch of power-hungry liars.

Thank you for sharing this idiocy with us Barbara. First, let's not forget Sarah telling Abraham what to do about Hagar, then God telling Abraham to listen to her voice.
Second: This person is under the false assumption that Jehovah [An invented name] has a spirit-directed organization here on earth and is using THEM!
Third: To assume that this organization can do better than Christ is ludacris. The bible even warns us about this evil slave that will say the appointed times is near and we come in Christ's name. "Do not go after them!"
Fourth: Thank you for all the hard work you have done to protect the children. These JWapologists forget what the big picture is all about and want to attack the messenger. 'Oh forget the kids, this Anderson woman shouldn't have this website and should just keep quiet" [Heavy sarcasm] How stupid of them. A personal observation from my Hubby [Brother of the Hawk] When someone has to speak out like this person did, shows me that you, Barbara, and your website, has absolutely STRUCK A NERVE! Keep it up

Experience regarding Elders being spirit appointed
by Comatose ini was told recently about a situation where an elder did not get recommended to serve upon moving to a new hall.
i think he left for a job.
but, something internal politics happened in the old hall and he was not recommended.

Good post Comatose! You are exactly right. This has been Hubby & I argument for years. How can these men be 'spirit appointed' in 1 cong. and NOT spirit appointed in another.
Hubby's dad, served as a MS for 8 years and finally a new CO came in and asked the BOE why this man was never recommended as an elder.
Here is my thought: My father in law always researched a subject and didn't rely on his personal opinion. He was not afraid to question or challenge the BOE and we have heard from other elders that he was the only elder that would come to elder's meeting with WT articles directing how the BOE should handle or view these matters.
So in other words, the elders knew that he would make waves or be a thorn in their side if they wanted to do things their way.
So we feel this is why it took a CO to get him appointed. This is why Hubby could never get appointed also and was always in trouble and being back-roomed.

Funniest Talk or Weird Things That Happened In Your Hall.
by Nephilim inthere is always at least 2 or 3 really crazy persons in the kingdom hall.
the kind of person that when they raise their hand the speaker on stage knows he's taking a gamble if he calls on them - yet he can't discriminate.. anyhow, i remember one time a younger brother was doing sound and one of those crazy brothers was about to give his 5 minute talk (i forget what number that was, prior to them just reading scripture).
the crazy brother slipped the young brother doing sound a cd and said "play this when i get on stage".. well, he gets up on stage and all of a sudden hawaiian music starts playing... the man on stage just starts dancing.

But the MOST BIZARRE thing, didn't happen inside the kingdom hall but at a sister's house. I got invited to a baby shower for her horse. Yes, I said horse. I didn't go because it was just too weird for my taste, plus I was working.
My mom & mother in law went and was raving at how much fun it was, until the whackadoodle horse sister said she had a video of the baby being born. Which wasn't too bad, but the video started with her horses doing the nasty! Yep, she took video of the conception also! OMG!
I was so glad I didn't go. They even gave horse gifts.

Good post Sweetie, I had forgotten about that guy, but just want to add something to my daughter Gojira's post above, about that elder that was stuck in the 70's. I remember kids in the audience turning to their parents after he had said 'Crap' and asking them if they could now say crap.
He also stated that large congregation anniversary parties were wrong. Which ironically, we had just thrown our PO/COBE and his wife their 50 th wedding party at a rented hall the previous weekend. Right after the meeting, the visiting speaker was hauled in the back room with 3 of the elders. Hubby was serving as an MS at the time and asked the PO what was going to be done about this because what that brother said was not right. PO told him what had happened afterwards and that they even called that brother's congregation Elder's and told them how wrong he had been and that they didn't want him here again. The following Thurs night our PO, got up and gave a local needs talk and disputed publically what that visiting elder had said. That brother was never invited to give another talk in our hall again.
